Hi, I'm James, and I run ClaimFairly.

ClaimFairly is a small, independent website with free calculators for people dealing with a car accident claim. You type in your own numbers and see how a claim is usually valued, with the formula on the screen and the sources linked underneath. No sign-up, no phone number, no catch.

Why this site exists

If you search for help after a crash, almost every result is a law firm ad or a "free case review" form. Those can be useful, but they rarely show you the actual math. Meanwhile the insurance company on the other side of your claim uses formulas every single day.

I wanted to close that gap. The goal is simple: before you talk to an adjuster, accept an offer or call a lawyer, you should be able to see roughly what your claim is worth and why.

What I am, and what I am not

  • I am the person who builds, writes and checks everything on this site.
  • I am not a lawyer, and nothing here is legal advice. For advice about your situation, talk to a licensed attorney in your state.
  • I am not paid by insurance companies, and I do not sell your information to law firms. The calculators run in your browser, so I never see what you type.

How the tools are built

Every calculator uses a method that insurers, adjusters or attorneys already use as a starting point, like the 17c formula for diminished value or the multiplier method for pain and suffering. I explain each formula in plain English on the tool's page and in our methodology.

A few rules I stick to:

  • Ranges, not promises. You will never see "you will get $X" here.
  • Show the math. Every result lists the formula and the assumptions behind it.
  • Cite real sources. State rules link to official or well-established legal sources, and every page shows when it was last reviewed.
  • Be honest about the downside. If a formula tends to undervalue your claim, the page says so.

Who this site is for

ClaimFairly is built for everyday drivers dealing with an insurance claim after a crash: people who want to understand an offer, check a number, or prepare before talking to a lawyer. It is not built for insurance companies, and it is not a lead form for law firms. Nobody will call you because you used a calculator here.

How the site makes money

ClaimFairly is free. It may show ads to cover hosting and time, but ads never appear inside a calculator and never change a result. If that ever changes, this page will say so first.

No. The calculators run in your browser, nothing you type is stored, and we do not sell or share personal information.

How do you keep the information up to date?

State pages are reviewed at least every three months and other pages at least every six months. Every page shows its last reviewed date.

How can I report a mistake?
